New Delhi, Jan 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that since he took office in 2014, he has been dedicated to the service of rural India.
Speaking at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi during the inauguration of the Bharat Grameen Mahotsav 2025, he remarked, “This grand event is a significant milestone in India’s development journey, establishing a distinct identity for Grameen Bharat. I extend my congratulations to NABARD and all involved in organizing this celebration.”
Reflecting on the issues facing rural communities, PM Modi expressed, “Having grown up in a small town has given me invaluable insights into the challenges that rural populations endure, as well as an understanding of the tremendous potential that exists within our villages. Despite their relentless efforts, villagers often face obstacles in accessing opportunities due to insufficient resources.”

He further articulated his government’s vision to empower rural India.
“Since 2014, my focus has been on improving the lives of villagers. Ensuring a dignified existence for those in rural areas is a top priority for my administration. Our goal is to empower rural communities, provide them with advancement opportunities, curb migration, and simplify their lives. In pursuit of this, we have initiated a campaign to guarantee essential services in every village,” he stated.
Highlighting the achievements of his administration over the past eleven years, he noted, “Clean drinking water has reached countless households in many villages. Today, enhanced health services are accessible in over 1.5 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Through digital technology, we’ve connected villages to some of the nation’s best doctors and hospitals, facilitating access to telemedicine… Strengthening the rural economy necessitates creating economic policies that take into account all village demographics. I am pleased that over the last decade, our government has crafted specific policies and made decisions that benefit every segment of rural society. Just a few days ago, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana for another year,” he added.
“In addition to agriculture, many villagers engage in various traditional arts and crafts that significantly contribute to both the rural and local economies, yet they have often been overlooked. Now, we are implementing the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, a scheme designed to provide opportunities for countless artisans across the country to thrive,” PM Modi continued.
He also discussed the government’s decision to extend a One-time Special Package for Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) beyond the current NBS subsidy rate of Rs 3,500 per ton, ensuring its sustainable availability at affordable prices for farmers, with a projected budget requirement of approximately Rs 3,850 crore.
“Although global DAP prices are soaring, we’ve taken steps to avoid placing the burden on farmers by keeping prices stable through increased subsidies. The genuine intentions, policies, and decisions of our government are revitalizing rural India,” the Prime Minister asserted.
Earlier, PM Modi inaugurated the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 and engaged with various artisans. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was also in attendance, and PM Modi received accolades from NABARD chairperson Shaji KV.
This six-day Mahotsav is being held at Bharat Mandapam, taking place from January 4 to 9 under the theme ‘Building a Resilient Rural India for a Viksit Bharat 2047’. (Agencies)
