NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a constructive dialogue with Estonian President Alar Karis during the AI Action Summit in Paris today. This marked their first official meeting.
In a post shared on X, the Prime Minister remarked:
“I had a very productive discussion with President Alar Karis of Estonia at the AI Action Summit in Paris. India’s relationship with Estonia has been significantly strong over the years. We explored avenues for enhancing collaboration in trade, technology, culture, and beyond.”
A statement from the meeting highlighted that: “Both the Prime Minister and President Karis reaffirmed that the amiable and cordial relations between India and Estonia stem from their mutual dedication to democracy, the rule of law, and the principles of freedom and pluralism. They expressed satisfaction regarding the increasing bilateral cooperation in sectors such as trade and investment, information technology and digital innovation, culture, tourism, and interpersonal connections. They also discussed ongoing collaborations in the field of cyber security, with the Prime Minister inviting Estonian governmental agencies and businesses to tap into the opportunities presented by India’s growth trajectory and initiatives like Digital India.”
“The leaders emphasized the significance of the India-Estonia partnership in the context of the broader India-EU strategic alliance. They appreciated the commencement of ministerial exchanges within the India-Nordic-Baltic framework. Additionally, they shared their perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual concern and their collaboration within the United Nations.”
“Both leaders expressed their approval of the expanding cultural and personal ties between their nations, with the Prime Minister acknowledging the growing interest in Yoga in Estonia.”
A spokesperson from the Ministry of External Affairs stated:
“PM @narendramodi met with President @AlarKaris of Estonia at the AI Action Summit in Paris today, marking their inaugural meeting. The discussions encompassed various aspects of India-Estonia relations, including economic ties, IT and digital initiatives, cultural exchanges, tourism, and strengthening their long-standing bilateral relationship.”
Estonia, located by the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe, shares borders with the Gulf of Finland across from Finland to the north, the sea opposite Sweden to the west, Latvia to the south, and Russia to the east.
