SAMBA, Jan 18: The District Administration of Samba hosted a live stream event for the e-distribution of property cards under the SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme, held at the DC office complex and led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This event signifies a significant advancement in the government’s effort to grant clear property rights to rural residents.
Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, along with other district officials, took part in the virtual meeting, demonstrating the district’s dedication to this transformative initiative.
During the event, the Prime Minister engaged with multiple beneficiaries, including Varinder Kumar from Samba District, showcasing the scheme’s positive impact on rural communities.
The SVAMITVA Scheme, executed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, aims to provide rural property owners with the “Record of Rights” through accurate property documentation achieved via drone technology and mapping. This innovative method aids in resolving property disputes, enables properties to be monetized, and supports rural planning efforts.
“This initiative is a groundbreaking move towards empowering our rural communities with definitive property rights,” stated Deputy Commissioner Sharma. “The digital issuance of property cards will greatly minimize land disputes and allow rural property owners to leverage their properties as financial resources.”
The key advantages of the SVAMITVA Scheme include: the creation of precise land records for rural planning; a reduction in property disputes; enabling rural properties to serve as financial assets; facilitating property tax assessment; and establishing survey infrastructures along with GIS mapping.
The effective implementation of the SVAMITVA Scheme in Samba District exemplifies the government’s commitment to utilizing technology for rural advancement and ensuring transparent governance at the grassroots level.
