NEW DELHI, Jan 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to Subhas Chandra Bose on his birthday Thursday, highlighting Bose’s unparalleled contributions to India’s struggle for independence.
In remembrance of Bose, the distinguished freedom fighter who commanded the Azad Hind Fauj in its battle against British rule, Modi remarked on his embodiment of valor and resilience.
“His vision continues to inspire us as we strive towards shaping the India he dreamed of,” he stated.
Bose’s birthday is observed as ‘Parakram Diwas’.
Born in 1897, Bose was a charismatic and beloved leader who ascended to the presidency of the Congress Party, later parting ways with it due to his call for a more assertive approach, including military action, to confront colonial rulers in India.
