NEW DELHI, Feb 6: On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the Union Government, led by the BJP, operates on the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ while accusing the Congress Party of engaging in appeasement politics to secure votes.
During a response to the debate on the Motion of Thanks regarding the President’s Address in the Upper House, Modi asserted that the Congress prioritizes “family first,” with policies centered around it.
“The BJP puts the nation first…” he emphasized.
“I take pride in stating that for five to six decades, there was no viable alternative model for the people. It wasn’t until 2014 that the country witnessed a new framework, one founded not on appeasement but rather on ‘santushtikaran’ (satisfaction of all),” Modi remarked.
He criticized the previous model, particularly under the Congress rule, noting that it was characterized by appeasement in all areas. “This became a core aspect of its politics. The party would cater to small groups while neglecting others and mislead people during elections with false promises,” he added.
Modi mentioned that the BJP-led government aims for optimal resource utilization.
“We have adopted a saturation approach. Our aim is to ensure that schemes reach 100 percent of the intended beneficiaries, preventing any deprivation that could drive people towards despair. Over the past decade, we have consistently worked to implement ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ and we can now see the positive outcomes,” he noted.
Modi further asserted that there are ongoing efforts to instigate casteism.
“For three decades, OBC representatives from all political parties in both Houses demanded a commission for OBCs, but it was repeatedly dismissed as it apparently didn’t align with their political interests at that time. We have now granted constitutional status to this OBC commission,” he stated.
“Every time the topic of reservation arose, it served to widen divisions within the country…” he added.
“For the first time, we introduced a model providing 10 percent reservation to economically backward groups without detracting from anyone else. The SC, ST, and OBC communities welcomed this measure without any objections,” Modi concluded. (AGENCIES)
