While inaugurating the ‘Utkarsh Odisha, Make in Odisha Conclave’ in Bhubaneswar, Modi expressed his belief that eastern India serves as the growth engine for the nation, with the state of Odisha holding a vital position in this development.
“The development of our country cannot be achieved solely through the export of raw materials. Hence, we are transforming the entire ecosystem with a refreshed perspective,” he stated.
He criticized the trend where minerals extracted from India are sent abroad for processing and are then brought back to the country as finished products, asserting that this practice is unacceptable.
Modi highlighted that the aspirations of millions of Indians are propelling the nation forward toward development.
“Today, India is progressing fueled by the ambitions of countless individuals. While we live in an age of AI and discussions about its potential dominate the conversation, the true strength of our nation lies in our people’s aspirations. Prosperity rises when needs are met. Over the last decade, we have witnessed significant empowerment of the populace, with Odisha exemplifying this aspiration,” he remarked.
He commended Odisha for its unique qualities and the optimism it embodies in the context of a new India. “With abundant opportunities, the people of Odisha have shown resilience and determination,” he added.
Modi noted that ASEAN countries are keen to enhance trade relations with Odisha.
“I envision eastern India as the country’s growth powerhouse, with Odisha playing a particular role in this journey. Historical evidence shows that whenever India has significantly contributed to global growth, eastern India has also made substantial contributions,” he said.
“I am confident that Odisha will soon reach unprecedented heights of development. I applaud Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and his team’s dedication to advancing the state’s progress,” he concluded. (Agencies)
