New Delhi, Feb 18: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, at the Hyderabad House for discussions, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) indicating that a “new milestone” in this “special” bilateral relationship is anticipated. Earlier that day, the Amir received a ceremonial guard of honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, where he was welcomed by President Droupadi Murmu, with Prime Minister Modi also in attendance.
The MEA posted on X, “PM @narendramodi warmly welcomed HH Sheikh @TamimbinHamad Al-Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar at Hyderabad House. A new milestone in the cards for this special India-Qatar partnership.” Notably, Modi extended a rare show of hospitality by greeting the Amir at the airport on Monday evening. In a post on X, he stated, “Went to the airport to welcome my brother, Amir of Qatar H H Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Wishing him a fruitful stay in India and looking forward to our meeting tomorrow.”
The visit of the Amir of Qatar is expected to enhance the momentum of the growing multifaceted partnership between the two countries, according to the MEA. (Agencies)
