JAMMU, Dec 4: In a notable advancement, Principal Commissioner Vikram Sahai officially transferred the Bar Room possession to the Income Tax Bar Association Jammu, effectively resolving an issue that had persisted for over two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Traveling specifically for this event, Sahai assured the assembly of Income Tax advocates that he would be responsive to future concerns raised by the legal community. He underscored the vital role that Tax Advocates play within the Income Tax Department.
Advocate V K Grover, representing the Association, extended a warm welcome to the Principal Commissioner. He pointed out that resolving the Bar Room issue would empower the Association to engage more constructively in vital discussions, including professional dialogues on Union Budgets, addressing taxpayer concerns, and improving relations with the Income Tax Department.
In his address, Principal Commissioner Vikram Sahai expressed his apprehension regarding the Advance Tax collections for September 2024, describing them as unsatisfactory. He urged Bar Members to motivate their clients to settle any outstanding Advance Tax by December 15, 2024, to mitigate the shortfall from previous installments.
Advocate Sat Mehta, President of the Income Tax Bar Association, praised Additional Commissioner Rajeev Gubgotra for his significant contributions in renovating the Bar Room and facilitating a seamless transition.
