New Delhi, Jan 31: Emphasizing the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir post the revocation of Article 370, President Droupadi Murmu on Friday highlighted that the railway connectivity to Kashmir stands as a significant accomplishment of the government.
While addressing a joint session of Parliament to commence this year’s Budget Session, President Murmu remarked, “There have been considerable advancements in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.”
“In the past six months, the government has invested record amounts in future infrastructure.
I am pleased to announce that the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project has been finalized, which means the country will now have railway connectivity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. This project includes the construction of the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab River,” she continued.
Regarding national security, the President stated, “The government has undertaken historic measures to safeguard the country’s borders and ensure internal security.”
She also discussed advancements in the defense sector, stating, “The government has shifted from ‘Make in India’ to ‘Make for the World’ regarding defense production,” President Murmu added. (KNO)
