NEW DELHI, Jan 23: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed on Thursday that the people of Delhi are seeking the “real development model” of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit rather than the “false propaganda and PR model” propagated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.
Gandhi posted a video montage on Facebook that underscored critical issues such as inflation, unemployment, pollution, and corruption.
He stated, “The real challenges of Delhi—substandard construction, pollution, rising costs, joblessness, and corruption—are clear for everyone to see,” in his Facebook update, written in Hindi.
“Delhi desires the genuine development model championed by Sheila Dikshit ji, not the deceptive propaganda and PR strategies of Modi and Kejriwal,” Gandhi remarked ahead of the Assembly elections.
Unfortunately, Gandhi was unable to speak at a public meeting in the Sadar Bazar Assembly constituency on Wednesday due to health issues and sent a message encouraging the audience to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming polls.
His health also prevented him from traveling to the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan’ rally in Belagavi, Karnataka, on Tuesday, and he had to cancel his political agenda in the New Delhi constituency earlier.
Earlier in the month, Gandhi delivered a sharp critique of both Prime Minister Modi and former Delhi chief minister Kejriwal, arguing that the two are indistinguishable and that they neglect the needs of backward classes, Dalits, tribals, and minorities.
In his first public appearance for the Delhi assembly elections, he specifically targeted Kejriwal, claiming that the AAP leader was implementing “Modi’s tactics of propagandizing and making false commitments,” all while pollution, corruption, and inflation continue to escalate in the capital.
Gandhi also pledged to conduct a caste survey in Delhi if Congress wins control of the government.
He praised the accomplishments of Sheila Dikshit’s three consecutive administrations and insisted that neither Kejriwal nor the BJP can compete with Congress’ proven track record. (PTI)
