RAJOURI, Dec 30: Block Khawas, recognized as the sole Aspirational Block in Rajouri district, has made substantial strides, achieving an impressive 5th place out of 500 blocks nationwide under the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP).

Established as an Aspirational Block on January 7, 2023, during the 2nd National Conference of Chief Secretaries, Block Khawas aims to enhance governance and uplift the quality of life in underdeveloped areas across the country. This program emphasizes the convergence of existing schemes, setting measurable outcomes, and ensuring continuous oversight to foster development.
To achieve maximum improvement in essential developmental indicators, the district administration initiated a comprehensive program called “Sampooranata Abhiyan” from July to September 2024. This initiative targets the saturation of six crucial indicators, specifically including three from the Health Department, as well as one each from the ICDS, Agriculture, and Social Welfare Departments.
District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, acting as the nodal officer, achieved a remarkable 100% saturation in five out of the six indicators through consistent monitoring and regular assessments of stakeholder departments and on-ground staff. The last indicator’s progress is delayed due to a technical issue at the national level.
Block Khawas has experienced noteworthy progress, with a significant rise in its ranking each quarter: 405th in the First Quarter, 453rd in the Second Quarter, and remarkably 5th in the Third Quarter.
This dramatic progress highlights the dedication and collaborative efforts of all participants involved in the Aspirational Block Programme in Rajouri district.
Commenting on this achievement, District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma praised the commitment of the administration and grassroots workers. “This achievement showcases our collective resolve towards comprehensive development in the most challenging areas. The substantial improvement in Block Khawas’ ranking exemplifies the hard work and unity of all departments and on-the-ground teams,” he remarked.
The district administration remains committed to tackling the challenges faced by Block Khawas and will persist in its pursuit of excellence in governance and service delivery under the Aspirational Block Programme.
