JAMMU, Jan 16: The Minister for Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, convened a meeting with senior officials at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu to review the progress of the Dharti Aaba Scheme in J&K.
The Minister underscored that the comprehensive development of tribal communities is a key priority for the current government, urging the scheme to be broadened to encompass all tribal villages. He highlighted the need for targeted actions to address significant gaps in social infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihoods to ensure sustainable growth for tribal populations.
Present at the meeting were Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department, Harun Malik, Deputy Secretary TAD, Dr. Abdul Khabir, and other relevant officers.
During the discussion, the Minister emphasized a focused strategy on the interventions of the scheme under the Abhiyan, advocating for collaborative efforts to ensure that benefits effectively reach the intended communities. He sought a firsthand update on the implementation of the scheme designed to aid tribal people and discussed various elements related to the scheme along with other operational details to ensure its successful implementation in meeting the set objectives.
The Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department provided an overview of the various welfare schemes in J&K aimed at socioeconomic empowerment and sustainable development, noting that coordinated efforts are in progress to extend the Dharti Aaba’s reach to all tribal villages in J&K. He stated that these initiatives are intended to improve living conditions, promote education, and encourage inclusive growth within the tribal community.
