JAMMU, Jan 16: Javed Ahmed Rana, the Minister for Tribal Affairs, convened a meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to assess the progress of the Dharti Aaba Scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister underscored the government’s commitment to comprehensive tribal development, advocating for the scheme’s expansion to encompass all tribal villages. He emphasized the necessity of targeted initiatives to address critical deficiencies in social infrastructure, healthcare, education, and livelihoods to ensure sustainable progress for tribal communities.
Attendees included Harun Malik, Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department, Deputy Secretary Dr. Abdul Khabir, along with other relevant officials.
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized a focused approach to the scheme’s interventions under the initiative, urging coordinated efforts to ensure the intended beneficiaries receive the support. He sought direct feedback on the execution of the scheme aimed at benefiting tribal populations, discussing various aspects and strategies for its successful implementation.
Additionally, the Secretary of the Tribal Affairs Department provided an overview of several welfare initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir aimed at socioeconomic empowerment and sustainable growth. He mentioned ongoing efforts to broaden the Dharti Aaba Scheme’s scope to include all tribal villages, aiming to improve living conditions, enhance education, and promote inclusive development for the tribal population.
