Jammu, Feb 22: During Jammu and Kashmir Sankalp Diwas, Sat Sharma, the BJP President in the Union Territory, asserted that the residents of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) feel insecure in Pakistan and desire to be part of India. He indicated that the current climate allows for open expressions of dissent from the people in PoJK against Pakistan.
“On this day 31 years ago, our Parliament unanimously passed a significant resolution regarding PoJK, amidst a period of heightened terrorism in Kashmir during the 1990s. A misleading narrative emerged claiming the Indian Army was committing atrocities against the people, promoting the idea of independence. However, on February 22, 1994, a resolution acknowledging PoJK as an integral part of India was passed. Although a Congress Government was in power at that time, the BJP supported this resolution. The inhabitants of PoJK and Gilgit-Baltistan yearn to join India,” Sharma remarked.
He emphasized that on Sankalp Diwas, there is a renewed commitment to integrate these territories into India.
“Our resolve is to reclaim all territories from Pakistan’s control. Through actions like the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A and surgical strikes, PM Modi has demonstrated our determination to bring these areas back into India. While the BJP previously backed the Congress, some Congress leaders now seem to undermine the country’s spirit when similar declarations are made from the PM’s office,” he continued.
Sharma also mentioned that the people of PoJK now openly express their desire to join India. “Witness the inflation and instability in Pakistan. Former Prime Ministers are imprisoned. Following defeats in multiple wars, Pakistan resorts to sending terrorists to replicate the turmoil they face domestically, yet our security forces remain steadfast in their duty,” he stated.
Regarding the J&K budget, Sharma remarked, “Funds allocated by the central government must benefit the local populace. We have instructed our MLAs to engage in the budget session positively and constructively. The government must draft a balanced budget.” (Agencies)
