Srinagar, January 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of Jammu and Kashmir announced on Tuesday that restoration efforts were progressing effectively in the snow-covered regions of the Union Territory. He noted that electricity supply had been nearly fully restored following recent snowfall.
The chief minister emphasized that restoration activities were being closely overseen by ministers, advisors, and senior officials, with regular updates provided by the Kashmir divisional commissioner.
“Work on restoring services continues actively in the snow-covered areas of Jammu and Kashmir, closely monitored by ministers, my advisors, and senior officials, with regular assessments by @DivComKash (Kashmir divisional commissioner). Today’s primary focus will be on clearing snow from inner roads and lanes. Almost complete restoration of electricity has been achieved, with 100 percent of 33 kv and 99 percent of 11 kv feeders operational,” Abdullah shared in a post on X.
The Kashmir Valley and several areas in the Jammu division experienced moderate to heavy snowfall on Sunday, resulting in road closures and disruptions to electricity supply in numerous locations.
