Katra (J&K), Feb 15: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized the need for a re-evaluation of the teaching and mentoring system to capitalize on future prospects in science and technology for a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
He highlighted that skills and knowledge should play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals.
“In order to embrace forthcoming opportunities in science and technology, it’s essential to reassess our educational framework, as it will significantly influence the journey toward Viksit Bharat,” Sinha stated during the 10th convocation ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) here.
He urged educators to tap into the potential of students and transform educational institutions into powerful tools for building a prosperous India.
“It is the duty of our teachers and educational institutions to launch innovative educational initiatives that foster curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and innovation. Educators should share their own experiences to inspire students,” he said.
Sinha expressed his gratitude to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar for being present among the graduating SMVDU students, noting that “this moment will be memorable for the students for a lifetime.”
He called on the youth to contribute to the nation’s progress and aspire to make it the world’s largest economy. “The future strength of our nation will be defined by our values, innovation, and knowledge, and I firmly believe that the young graduates in this ‘Amrit Kaal’ will shape our nation’s destiny. Those moving forward today into the real world hold a unique opportunity for nation building,” the Lieutenant Governor stated.
He remarked that advancements in humanities, arts, science, and technology have created new avenues for opportunity, asserting that the education and skills acquired by the graduating students will pave the way for their success.
“Today’s youth possess specialized knowledge and skills that can be effectively utilized to transform rural areas. This endeavor requires commitment and resolve. Most importantly, our youth must remain rooted in their rich heritage, believing in their capabilities and the wisdom of our culture,” he added.
Extending his best wishes for a promising future to all graduates, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah urged students to pursue success without compromising their values.
“Contribute back to society, for true success lies in service,” he advised, emphasizing that success encompasses not only the attainment of goals but also overcoming challenges while remaining true to one’s principles and uplifting others in the process.
“The journey of Mata Vaishno Devi to the Thakuta Hills symbolizes patience, courage, and righteousness—values that each of you should carry as you embark on the next chapter of your lives.
“You are stepping into a rapidly evolving world characterized by artificial intelligence, climate change, startups, and global competition. Your degree is more than just a document; it is your passport to making a significant impact. India and the world require ethical, compassionate, and responsible leaders,” he remarked.
Abdullah acknowledged that the path ahead may not always be straightforward. “There will be challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt. However, always remember that failure is not the antithesis of success; it is a component of success.”
“Every esteemed leader, scientist, or entrepreneur you admire has encountered rejection before reaching their goals. Maintain your curiosity, stay humble, and welcome change with an open mind. As you graduate today, remember to dream big but work even harder. Remain grounded, yet aim for the stars,” he concluded.
