JAMMU, Feb 26: The Minister for Health, Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, convened a meeting at the Civil Secretariat today to evaluate the performance and operations of the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (JKMSCL).
The meeting included participation from Secretary of Health and Medical Education, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed, Managing Director of JKMSCL, Principals from all GMCs, Principals from Dental Colleges, Chief Medical Officers from every district, and various other relevant officials, either attending in person or virtually.
In her address to the officials, Sakeena Itoo emphasized the importance of enhancing the monitoring system for medical supplies to improve healthcare delivery throughout Jammu and Kashmir. She urged for increased transparency and efficiency in the distribution of medicines to patients across all district, sub-district hospitals, and health centers.
She instructed all GMC Principals to keep accurate records of the medicines distributed to patients within their hospitals, as well as those prescribed but not in stock.
Sakeena further highlighted the necessity for the JKMSCL management to uphold quality standards in the medical supplies, machinery, and equipment being acquired by the corporation.
Acknowledging JKMSCL’s role in improving healthcare infrastructure across J&K, she encouraged the management to create a more responsive and effective system that meets the growing medical demands of the local populace.
While reviewing the procurement status of machinery and high-end equipment for various healthcare facilities in J&K, Sakeena urged the Corporation’s management to minimize delays in acquisition and establish a more efficient framework for the prompt delivery of machinery and equipment. She directed the JKMSCL management to expedite outstanding procurement processes and ensure timely delivery of medical supplies, machinery, and equipment, especially in rural and remote areas.
Regarding the status of the Drugs and Vaccine Distribution Management System (DVDMS) portal, Sakeena Itoo insisted on the necessity for JKMSCL’s management to conduct physical monitoring of the drugs distributed among different health facilities. She instructed them to form teams for surprise inspections of drugs and medicines delivered to hospitals and other facilities.
Additionally, she called for action to be taken against officers who have not yet signed on to the DVDMS portal.
During the meeting, the MD of JKMSCL presented a comprehensive overview of procurement methods, supply chain management, the availability of medicines, and the financial position of the Corporation.
