NEW DELHI, Jan 6: Satish Sharma, the Minister for FCS & CA, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, as well as Information & Technology, Science and Technology, ARI and Trainings, met with Union Minister for Railway, Information Broadcasting, and Electronic and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav, to discuss significant issues affecting Railway, Information Technology, and related sectors.
Minister Sharma expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his continued support towards the comprehensive development of Jammu and Kashmir. Discussions covered various developmental topics, including the proposed Railway Line from Jammu to Poonch via Akhnoor, Chhamb, Sunderbani, and Nowshera, as well as the extension of the Railway line to Uri and Kupwara from Baramulla, alongside the creation of IT Corporate parks in Jammu and Srinagar aimed at generating employment opportunities for numerous IT-trained professionals.
Additionally, Sharma advocated for the establishment of data centers at District and Tehsil Headquarters, the creation of a State Emergency Operation Centre, and a second phase of the State Wide Area Network (SWAN 2.0) to enhance internet connectivity across all districts by addressing the outstanding Points of Presence (PoPs) from SWAN 1.0. Other proposals included augmenting Common Service Centers (CSCs) and encouraging international corporations to set up electronic manufacturing units in Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to establishing facilities akin to CDOT, implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions for all J&K departments, and developing a Content Delivery Network (CDN).
Minister Sharma also called for the introduction of new programs to enhance existing developmental initiatives and expand the scope of projects so that they benefit a wider population. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that residents receive essential services on par with those in metropolitan areas of the country.
The Union Minister reassured that the Central Government is dedicated to accelerating development in Jammu and Kashmir and promised to consider the concerns and requests raised by Satish Sharma.
