JAMMU, Jan 27: The Minister for Transport, FCS&CA, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, made an unexpected visit to the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) office in Jammu at Narwal on Monday to assess its operations.
The Minister evaluated each service counter and engaged with the Assistants to comprehend the range of services they offer.
During his discussions with the staff, Satish Sharma instructed them to guarantee that public services are delivered within the designated timeframes.
The Minister conducted a thorough tour of the premises, examining the available infrastructural facilities. He urged the staff to leverage digital technology to enhance transparency and expedite the resolution of public grievances.
Satish Sharma underscored the government’s vigilant stance against the Agent Mafia to protect the public from exploitation. He also mentioned the provision of adequate public transport to assist passengers traveling to religious sites and tourist destinations.
Additionally, the Minister visited the shops located outside the RTO office, directing them not to charge clients more than the officially mandated fees. He highlighted the importance of educating the public about faceless services, enabling them to access needed services from the comfort of their homes without having to visit any ARTO/RTO offices.
He reaffirmed the department’s dedication to offering seamless, faceless services to the public, negating the need for in-person visits to any facility.
Later, Satish Sharma toured the fruits and vegetables mandi in Narwal and interacted with members of the Jammu Fruit and Vegetable Traders Associations, listening to their concerns.
The Minister assured the associations that all legitimate requests would be addressed progressively.
