JAMMU, Jan 31: Today, Sakeena Itoo, the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, addressed the annual function of SGSD International School held at the Baba Jitto Auditorium of SKUAST.
As the chief guest, she reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing health and education under Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s leadership, ensuring that support is provided to institutions that enhance these vital areas.
The Minister emphasized the significant role schools play in combating drug abuse among youth, urging parents and teachers to collaborate with government initiatives to address this issue collectively.
Sakeena praised the remarkable talent of J&K’s youth and acknowledged the impressive cultural performances showcased at the event. She stressed that schools are crucial in shaping the futures of young minds, assisting them in realizing aspirations such as becoming doctors, administrators, engineers, or social workers.
“Constructing a building is just one aspect; what truly matters is our contribution to its functioning,” she remarked, assuring that the government is devoted to supporting schools like SGSD in their mission.
Javed Ahmad Dar, the Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Cooperative, and Election departments, also attended the event.
He commended SGSD International School for its dedication to providing quality education and empowering students academically and athletically, recognizing the school’s commitment to the holistic development of its students.
Encouraging students to pursue continuous learning and skill enhancement in alignment with modern progress, the Minister described SGSD International School as a model establishment that significantly contributes to the development of responsible and capable citizens.
He assured that the government would provide comprehensive support to facilitate the growth of such institutions in their pursuit of academic excellence and social advancement.
The program featured various cultural performances by students, showcasing the diverse traditional folk and local dance forms from different states.
Additionally, a felicitation ceremony honored young achievers in both academics and sports during the event.
