BHOPAL, Feb 12: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that India is set to overtake Japan and Germany to become the world’s third-largest economy by 2027. He urged the Congress party to reflect on historical facts before criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Scindia highlighted that inflation was as high as 8.3-9 percent in 2014, when Modi assumed office, but has since decreased to 4.5 percent. He also pointed out that the unemployment rate soared to 10 percent during the Congress era, while it now stands at just 3 percent under Modi’s governance, as conveyed during a press meeting in Bhopal.
“Under PM Modi, India is poised to surpass Japan and Germany to secure its position as the third-largest economy by 2027. The Congress should review history before making remarks about him and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government,” he asserted.
He also remarked that during the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) administration, the gross non-performing assets (NPA) ratio for banks escalated to 11 percent amid a culture of crony capitalism. “Now, PM Modi has rectified these issues, bringing the NPA ratio down to 2.6 percent,” he stated.
Scindia’s visit to Bhopal was primarily to attend a wedding ceremony. He also took the opportunity to meet with Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel at Raj Bhavan and former Home Minister Narottam Mishra at his residence. (PTI)
