Jammu, Dec 24: On Tuesday, security personnel initiated a cordon-and-search operation in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir due to reports of suspicious activity in the region, as per sources.
Members of the Village Defence Guard (VDG) allegedly discharged a few rounds after noticing unusual movement in the Kuntwara area of the district, the sources indicated.
As a result, security forces and police were deployed, leading to the commencement of the cordon-and-search operation, sources reported.
This incident took place in the same vicinity where two VDG members were tragically killed by terrorists on November 7. (Agencies)
