JAMMU, Dec 26: Today, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a meeting with the Industries & Commerce (I&C) Department to review the implementation plan for the Government of India-sponsored Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme in Jammu & Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner Secretary of the I&C Department, MD of JKTPO, Directors of Industries from Kashmir and Jammu, along with representatives from IIM Jammu, NABARD, SIDBI, and other relevant officials.
During the discussion, the Chief Secretary reviewed the approved Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) for J&K and the departmental roadmap aimed at ensuring effective implementation.
Dulloo urged the stakeholders to carefully select the best available options for the various components of the scheme within the Union Territory.
He recommended engaging with reputable and experienced implementing partners who have a substantial presence in the UT to ensure ongoing oversight and effective execution of each element of the initiative.
He emphasized that a well-considered strategy would directly influence the results of the scheme and highlighted the importance of promptly moving forward with implementation, considering that the MSME sector is crucial to J&K’s industrial landscape, representing its largest segment.
The Commissioner Secretary of I&C, Vikramjit Singh, provided an update on the current status of the scheme’s implementation in the UT.
Additionally, the Chief Secretary held a meeting with senior civil administration and police officials to assess preparations for the upcoming Republic Day celebration in 2025 in the UT.
He urged the divisional administration to foster public participation in this national event and to cultivate a festive atmosphere throughout J&K, particularly in Jammu and Srinagar.
He instructed that landmark sites and significant government buildings be illuminated and called for suitable transport and seating arrangements for school children.
The Chief Secretary also emphasized the need for adequate vehicle parking and smooth traffic flow. He assessed the necessary security measures to ensure the event’s seamless execution.
He encouraged cultural departments to create displays showcasing J&K’s cultural diversity, and directed the PDD to promote the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, police to address drug abuse, health services to focus on achieving a TB-free J&K, and YS&S to advocate for the Fit India Movement.
Other topics discussed included ensuring consistent power and water supply, sanitation at event venues, and the progress of civil works managed by the R&B Department to prepare sites in both Jammu and Srinagar.
