New Delhi, Jan 17: A thick blanket of fog enveloped parts of outer Delhi on Friday morning, significantly lowering visibility and causing disruptions in traffic.
The city registered a minimum temperature of 8.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.2 degrees above the average, while the air quality index was deemed poor, recording a value of 294.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a foggy day ahead, with a maximum temperature anticipated to be around 19 degrees Celsius.
The department also warns of very dense fog on Saturday and dense fog conditions on Sunday.
An Air Quality Index (AQI) of zero to 50 is classified as good, 51 to 100 as satisfactory, 101 to 200 as moderate, 201 to 300 as poor, 301 to 400 as very poor, and 401 to 500 as severe.
