NEW DELHI, Feb 28: Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized on Friday that the Delhi Police must take decisive action against networks aiding the illegal entry of Bangladeshi and Rohingya individuals into India, asserting that it pertains to national security and requires a stringent response.
While chairing a meeting to assess the law-and-order situation in the national capital, he underscored the necessity of imposing strict measures on police stations and subdivisions that consistently underperform.
Shah stated that the eradication of interstate gangs operating within the city should be a foremost priority for the Delhi Police. He urged that actions be undertaken with a “top to bottom and bottom to top approach” regarding narcotics cases, stressing the need to dismantle these drug networks.
“Severe measures are required against the entire network facilitating the entry, documentation, and stay of Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators in the country. Addressing the issue of illegal entrants is closely linked to national security, and it should be resolved with seriousness. They must be identified and deported,” he articulated during the meeting.
The gathering also included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi’s Home Minister Ashish Sood, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, along with other senior officials. (Agencies)
