Shami Set to Be Rested for NZ Match; Arshdeep Expected to Step In

DUBAI, Mar 1: With five left-handed batsmen in the New Zealand batting order and Mohammed Shami experiencing slight calf discomfort during the Pakistan match, the Indian team may consider fielding left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in the upcoming Champions Trophy match on Sunday.
If the practice session held on Friday serves as an indicator, it is likely that the Punjab pacer will take Shami’s place, who has recently returned to the team after an extended period off due to injury.
Arshdeep practiced diligently under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel, completing 13 overs with a full run-up, while Shami managed only 6-7 overs with a shortened run-up and was unable to bowl at full capacity. (Agencies)
