Jammu, Feb 7: Manish Sahni, president of the Shiv Sena (Udhav Bal Thackrey) in Jammu and Kashmir, has urged the Modi government to take immediate action against Pakistani national Seema Haider, former Bangladeshi President Sheikh Hasina, and all illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and Rohingyas residing in the country.
Leading a protest, Sahni and party members displayed placards with messages like “Send back Sheikh Hasina, Seema Haider” and “Deport illegal Rohingyas, Bangladeshis.”
In his speech, Sahni highlighted the ongoing violence against Hindus in Bangladesh, citing a recent incident where Hindus were targeted during a live address by Sheikh Hasina in Fudki village, Rajshahi district. He alleged that an idol of Saraswati Devi in a temple was vandalized during the attack.
Sahni criticized the government’s approach to the issue, suggesting that the BJP’s attention towards Rohingyas and Bangladeshis is merely an electoral tactic. He pointed out that despite tensions with Bangladesh, there remains an open stretch of approximately 856 kilometers along the Indo-Bangladesh border that lacks proper fencing.
According to data from 2007, around 12 million illegal Bangladeshi immigrants were in India, with current estimates suggesting this number has risen to about 20 million. He claimed that, while the Indian government offers refuge to Sheikh Hasina, Hindus continue to suffer.
He also mentioned that Seema Haider, who entered India illegally with her four children two years ago, is now expecting her fifth child, contrasting this with the U.S. practice of deporting Indians.
Sahni stated that the actual number of Rohingyas residing in sensitive areas like Jammu and Kashmir exceeds official counts, and the local police lack comprehensive biometric data on them. Recent troubling incidents, including cases of women trafficking, have emerged in the region.
He emphasized that a thorough investigation could uncover many individuals similar to Seema Haider living in Kashmir.
Sahni called on the Modi government and state administrations, including Jammu and Kashmir, to take immediate and decisive measures to identify and deport Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, drawing inspiration from the United States’ deportation policies.
