New Delhi, Feb 13: The Rajya Sabha was briefly adjourned on Thursday due to disruptions from opposition parties following the presentation of the joint committee’s report on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill.
The report was introduced by BJP member Medha Vishram Kulkarni, who is part of the committee.
This led to a significant uproar from opposition members. The noise continued as Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar attempted to read a message from the president.
“Do not show disrespect to the president of India…” Dhankhar urged Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge to get the opposition members to return to their seats.
Amidst the ongoing uproar, the Upper House was adjourned until 11:20 am. (Agencies)
