Srinagar, Dec 23: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) in Jammu has presented a chargesheet against key operatives involved in the infamous “Kashmir Fight” for allegedly issuing online threats to migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees, as reported by the Jammu and Kashmir police.
After the threats were issued earlier this month, the SIA initiated an investigation.
The chargesheet was filed with the 3rd Additional Sessions Judge in Jammu on Monday.
In a statement shared on its social media platform X, the J&K police declared: “In a crucial advancement in the battle against cyber-terrorism, the State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu, has submitted a chargesheet against key operatives responsible for the infamous ‘Kashmir Fight,’ a social media account.”
The statement further explained that this platform, managed by The Resistance Front (TRF), which is a banned terrorist organization, was utilized to deliver disturbing online threats to migrant Kashmiri Pandit employees with the intent of inducing fear and disorder. “In February 2024, a series of threatening messages were posted on social media by the terror outfit’s account, prompting the SIA to launch an investigation,” noted the police.
During the inquiry, the SIA arrested Farhaan Muzaffar Mattoo, a resident of Srinagar, on charges of collecting and disseminating sensitive information regarding the targeted employees, according to the police.
The investigation uncovered that Mattoo served as a mediator, utilizing encrypted communication tools to relay critical information about migrant employees to handlers based in Pakistan, who subsequently issued threats via the “Kashmir Fight” platform.
The chargesheet also implicates Sheikh Sajjad Ahmad, also known as Sajjad Gul, a Srinagar resident currently operating from Pakistan, as the “mastermind of this conspiracy.” Sajjad is accused of orchestrating efforts to intimidate migrant employees and disturb communal harmony in the Union Territory.
“The exposure of these terror plots aimed at undermining peace reflects the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s determination to safeguard its citizens and maintain a peaceful environment,” stated the police.
