NEW DELHI, Dec 7: On Saturday, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman conducted her second pre-Budget consultation with various farmer associations and prominent agricultural economists to gather their insights for the upcoming Budget 2025-26.
During this important meeting, agricultural sector representatives provided valuable suggestions aimed at tackling the challenges faced by farmers.
The session included participation from Minister of State (MoS) for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth, along with other senior officials.
“We received numerous significant suggestions during the meeting, focused on improving farmer welfare and advancing the agriculture sector. These insights will guide the policies of the forthcoming budget,” stated MoS for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on X.
Later that day, Sitharaman led another pre-Budget consultation with representatives from the MSME sector to collect further insights.
“These discussions are vital for formulating a Union Budget that supports businesses and stimulates economic growth. Our priority remains to assist MSMEs, the backbone of our economy, through policies that encourage innovation, enhance ease of doing business, and create growth opportunities,” added Chaudhary.
Just a day earlier, Sitharaman had organized her initial pre-Budget meeting with leading economists to discuss their recommendations for Budget 2025-26.
She is scheduled to present the Union Budget in February, marking her eighth consecutive Budget presentation.
