Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, remarked that Kalyan Barooah was a formidable voice for Assam and the Northeast, embodying integrity and dedication in his work.
Sunil Deodhar, former BJP national secretary and founder of ‘My Home India,’ stated that accolades like the Kalyan Barooah Awards inspire emerging journalists to dedicate themselves to highlighting the Northeast’s development.
“Kalyan Barooah was a true journalist who always prioritized the Northeast and advocated for the region through his writing,” said Deodhar.
The Kalyan Barooah Awards honor journalists and media professionals across India committed to promoting the Northeastern region through their reporting and storytelling efforts.
The awards ceremony coincides with the birth anniversary of Kalyan Barooah, who dedicated over 27 years to The Assam Tribune. Both Barooah and his wife, Nilakshi Bhattacharya, sadly passed away in 2021 due to Covid. (PTI)
