Mendhar/Jammu, February 22: An army personnel sustained injuries in an accidental landmine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday, according to officials.
The explosion took place at 10:50 AM in the Nangi-Takeri area of the Krishna Ghati sector while the Army personnel were on patrol.
Officials reported that a soldier was injured after accidentally stepping on a landmine and was subsequently evacuated to a hospital for treatment.
The forward areas marked for anti-infiltration features are frequently implanted with landmines, which can be displaced by rain, leading to such incidents, officials explained.
