Jammu, Feb 8: On Saturday, soldiers engaged in patrol duty were fired upon from a forest area across the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. This prompted Indian troops to return fire, as confirmed by security officials. Fortunately, no casualties occurred during the brief exchange, but a heightened alert has been issued to ensure strict vigilance in the region. Officials reported that the Indian troops were on patrol in a forward village in the Keri sector when suspected terrorists from the forest across the border fired several rounds, likely waiting for a chance to infiltrate. In retaliation, the Army troops also fired back, leading to an enhancement of the anti-infiltration grid to maintain close surveillance in the area.
