JAMMU, Dec 11: The Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, officially sent off the senior Men’s Football team from Jammu and Kashmir as they prepare to compete in the final round of the esteemed Santosh Trophy.
The event took place at the Mini Stadium in Parade Jammu and was attended by key figures including the Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Tara Singh, and Secretary of the J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, along with various senior officials.
The final phase of the Santosh Trophy is set to occur in Telangana, where the J&K team will face off against some of the top teams in the country. To commemorate the occasion, a friendly match was held between the J&K Police Team and the J&K Santosh Trophy Team in front of the dignitaries.
During the ceremony, the Sports Minister and Advisor to the CM distributed sports kits to athletes from various Khelo India centers across J&K.
Satish Sharma congratulated the team for their remarkable performance in the preliminary round held in Punjab, which allowed them to qualify for the finals. He commended the J&K Sports Council for providing excellent coaching and the necessary technical and infrastructural support to the players.
Nasir Aslam Wani praised the athletes for their commitment and wished them success in the forthcoming matches. He highlighted the global popularity of football, expressed pride in the players’ achievements, and assured full government support in making J&K a center for sports excellence.
The coaching camp for the final round took place at the Mini Stadium, Parade Jammu, led by former international footballer and accomplished coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo, along with chief football coach, Satpal Singh Kala. The J&K Sports Council made sure that the players had access to residential facilities, infrastructure, and other essential resources, as directed by the Secretary of the J&K Sports Council.
Armed with determination, the players expressed their optimism about performing well and are eager to achieve outstanding results as they gear up to compete against the best football teams in the nation.
