SRINAGAR, Feb 10: A mathematician dedicated to innovation has presented a solar-powered vehicle named ‘Ray’.
The creator, Mir Bilal, who is also a teacher, claims this car is fully solar-powered and is a pioneering endeavor in India’s automotive landscape.
“It operates solely on solar energy, and I began this project in 2009. I showcased it in 2022 prior to making additional enhancements, and it gained considerable attention on social media,” he stated.
The vehicle is designed with gullwing doors that not only improve its aesthetic but also augment energy generation via solar panels affixed to the doors.
“These doors enhance the car’s visual appeal while contributing to its charging capabilities,” he explained.
Bilal was inspired to create a solar vehicle after observing the hike in fuel costs.
“There is a global race to create solar-powered cars, be it in Australia or China. I thought, why not play a part in the Make in India initiative?” he remarked.
In addition to ensuring the vehicle is solar-powered, Bilal is committed to giving it the prestigious features expected of luxury automobiles.
“The car provides amenities comparable to luxury models. I utilized monocrystalline solar panels, which maximize energy output even in reduced sunlight conditions. These panels have higher efficiency and take up less surface space,” he elaborated.
He noted that the solar panels are seamlessly integrated into the car and can be extended remotely.
While he did not disclose any partnerships with car manufacturers, Bilal has set the price for the vehicle at Rs 10 lakh.
