SRINAGAR, Nov 30: The District of Srinagar has been awarded the prestigious ‘SKOCH Award of Excellence in Sustainable Transport System’ for its outstanding initiatives in developing a sustainable and inclusive non-motorized public transport system.
This forward-thinking system integrates walking and cycling facilities, promoting a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere that enhances tourism and stimulates economic growth.
Founded in 2003, the SKOCH Award honors remarkable achievements in various sectors, including governance, finance, banking, technology, economics, and inclusive development. Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) has played a key role in advancing the city’s infrastructure, especially after securing the Smart Cities Mission in 2017.
