ANANTNAG, Feb 25: In a significant enforcement operation, the Enforcement South Kashmir team from the State Tax Department has imposed a substantial penalty of ₹ 11,18,068 on a taxpayer involved in the transportation of rigid tubes, pipes, hoses, and fittings made from propylene polymers, breaching GST regulations.
Following specific intelligence, the enforcement team established a special Naka and intercepted a vehicle that was violating GST norms by utilizing fraudulent Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims without the legitimate movement of goods, involving three taxpayers.
The investigation revealed that a firm based in Delhi generated two e-invoices and E-Way bills totaling ₹ 73,29,554 for two taxpayers, while only transporting goods worth ₹ 36,64,777.
The operation was conducted by a team of STOs, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and guards led by Anil Kumar Chandail, Deputy Commissioner of Enforcement South Kashmir, under the direction of P.K. Bhat, Commissioner of State Taxes, J&K, and Pervaiz A Raina, Additional Commissioner of State Taxes, Kashmir.
The Commissioner and Additional Commissioner commended the South Kashmir team’s efforts in effectively managing substantial cases, which contribute to improved tax compliance and the disruption of tax evasion schemes utilizing fake ITC.
They highlighted the department’s dedication to promoting a culture of accountability and strict adherence to GST laws and regulations.
