NEW DELHI, Jan 19: On Sunday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the global interest in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic strategies, which will be a key topic of discussion at the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos.
Leading the Indian delegation at the annual WEF meeting starting Monday, Vaishnaw noted that the international community is particularly intrigued by India’s growth narrative, especially regarding digital transformation and the development of the new digital framework.
“At the World Economic Forum in Davos, there is significant interest in our approach, the Prime Minister’s economic policies, the digital transformation we’re undertaking, and how India is establishing new digital infrastructure through the Digital India initiative. The way technology has been democratized has also garnered attention,” he stated.
He further emphasized that discussions will revolve around inclusive growth, investments in social, physical, and digital infrastructure, as well as the democratization of technology.
“The Prime Minister has placed immense focus on inclusive development, aiming for a transformative impact on the lives of those at the bottom of the socio-economic pyramid, who have historically been overlooked in development efforts,” Vaishnaw, who also serves as the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics and Information Technology, remarked.
“The world is eager to learn about initiatives like opening bank accounts, providing toilets, gas connections, tap water access, and enhancing basic infrastructure in both rural and urban areas,” he added.
In addition to Vaishnaw, Union Ministers CR Patil, K Ram Mohan Naidu, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Chaudhary are scheduled to attend the WEF from January 20 to 24.
Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Revanth Reddy of Telangana, and Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh are also set to participate in the meeting.
US President-elect Donald Trump is anticipated to join the gathering via video link after officially taking office on Monday. (PTI)
