According to Singh, corporate social responsibility (CSR) transcends mere 2 percent contributions; it represents a heartfelt bond with the courageous soldiers and their dependents. Speaking at the Armed Forces Flag Day Corporate Social Responsibility (AFFD CSR) Conclave, he urged the public to contribute sincerely for the welfare of soldiers and their families, labeling it as the “national duty” of every citizen, as cited in a defense ministry statement.
He noted that while the government is dedicated to bolstering India’s security framework and ensuring the welfare of soldiers and their families, it is a shared responsibility of the nation to step forward and assist them in every conceivable way.
The nation’s soldiers stand resolute, vigilant, and prepared to defend against various threats under difficult conditions, he remarked.
“Any contribution you make will be significant. Ensure that when you review your balance sheet tomorrow, it reflects more assets of satisfaction and joy than liabilities,” Singh advised the leaders of several prominent corporate entities present at the event.
Reaffirming the Modi-led government’s commitment to increasing private sector involvement, Singh stated that the objectives of ‘Aatmanirbhar’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’ can be realized through the unified efforts of all stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that with enhanced participation from the private sector, India could emerge as one of the top three economies globally by 2027.
Singh praised corporate houses for their generous contributions to the AFFD fund and recognized the top CSR donors during the event, as stated in the defense ministry announcement.
The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, under the defense ministry, has been actively engaged in the welfare and rehabilitation of war widows, children of deceased soldiers, and ex-servicemen, including those with disabilities, by offering financial assistance tailored to their specific personal needs, including grants for education, funerals, medical expenses, and support for orphaned or disabled children, according to the statement.
