New Delhi, Feb 20: The Supreme Court has put a hold on the Lokpal’s decision to review complaints against a sitting high court judge, calling the situation “very disturbing”.
A special bench led by Justice B R Gavai has issued a notice to the Centre and other parties, requesting their responses in the suo motu proceedings related to the Lokpal’s January 27 order.
The bench, which includes Justices Surya Kant and Abhay S Oka, has prohibited the complainant from revealing the judge’s name and ordered that the complaint remain confidential.
The Lokpal’s order stemmed from two complaints regarding an additional high court judge, alleging that he influenced an additional district judge and another high court judge in favor of a private company involved in a lawsuit against the complainant. The firm in question was previously a client of the high court judge when he was in private practice. (Agencies)
