NEW DELHI, Dec 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Tuesday that Swahid Diwas serves as a moment to honor the remarkable bravery and sacrifices of individuals involved in the Assam Movement. This movement was a grassroots effort aimed at identifying and deporting illegal immigrants in Assam. December 10 is commemorated as Swahid Diwas to pay respects to those who lost their lives during this struggle. Modi stated in a post on X, “Swahid Diwas is an occasion to remember the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of those dedicated to the Assam Movement.” He added, “Their unwavering resolve and selfless efforts helped preserve Assam’s unique culture and identity. Their valor also inspires us to continue striving for a developed Assam.” (PTI)
