NEW DELHI, Feb 26 : On the occasion of Mahashivratri, Swiggy Instamart has temporarily removed non-vegetarian items, including eggs, meat, and fish, from delivery in select cities such as Pune, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. However, the availability of these items was restored by the evening in some locations, as reflected in the quick commerce platform’s app.
According to sources, this decision was made to honor religious sentiments, as Swiggy Instamart is facilitating the delivery of sacred Tandool Mahaprasad Ladoos directly from the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple for Mahashivratri.
On social media platform X, previously known as Twitter, some users expressed their discontent regarding this action, sharing screenshots that revealed the removal of non-veg items like meat, fish, and eggs from Swiggy Instamart’s grocery section.
Exclusively available on Swiggy Instamart for Maha Shivratri, the Tandool Mahaprasad Ladoos are the same ladoos that are served at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Swiggy Instamart will deliver these ladoos to devotees across 40 cities, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Goa, and Madhya Pradesh, as per the company’s announcement.
Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart, remarked, “Maha Shivratri is a period of profound devotion, and we are privileged to offer this spiritual experience right to our users’ homes. The Tandool Mahaprasad carries significant meaning for devotees during this sacred time, and we are committed to making it easier for them to receive these revered offerings while ensuring authenticity.” (PTI)
