JAMMU, Dec 26: On Thursday, authorities detained a terror associate under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for his involvement in providing logistical support to terrorist organizations within the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials reported.
In a decisive response to those supporting terrorism in the region, police acted swiftly and apprehended a notorious terror associate, as confirmed by a police spokesperson.
The individual, named Abdul Qayoom, also known as Bittu, hails from Kadwah in Basantgarh and has been transferred to jail.
Qayoom played a significant role in supplying logistical aid to terrorist groups and functioned as a guide and facilitator for various organizations before his arrest.
Multiple FIRs have been lodged against him at the Basantgarh police station. Due to the nature of his activities, authorities deemed it necessary to detain him under the PSA, the spokesperson elaborated.
This marks the third terror associate to be detained in Udhampur district.
Earlier, on November 29, another individual, Abdul Satar from Ponara Soni, was also taken into custody under the PSA. He had been implicated in several terror-related cases and served as an active guide and facilitator for terrorist groups until his apprehension, officials noted.
