Srinagar, Mar 4: A catastrophic fire erupted at Tak Masjid in the Shopian district of South Kashmir, leading to the destruction of three commercial buildings and a residential home in the early hours of Tuesday, as reported by officials.
According to the Fire and Emergency Service personnel, the blaze ignited at 3:50 am in a commercial building in the Tak Masjid area and swiftly spread to surrounding structures like wildfire.
The fire resulted in significant damage to three commercial buildings and one residential house, affecting at least 20 different shops within the commercial complexes, they noted.
Multiple fire tenders were dispatched from Shopian, but due to the severity of the flames and the extent of the damage, additional fire tenders were summoned from Keeram, Rajpora, and Pulwama for more support to extinguish the blaze.
Thanks to the prompt and effective firefighting efforts, the personnel managed to control the fire before it could spread further into adjacent areas.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
