BAGHPAT (UP), Jan 28: A tragic incident occurred in Badaut, where a wooden structure collapsed during a Jain community event, resulting in the deaths of at least five individuals and leaving over 40 others injured, according to police reports.
District Magistrate Asmita Lal stated that the injured were promptly taken to a nearby hospital, with 20 of them being discharged after receiving initial medical care; the rest are still being treated.
“Approximately 40 people sustained injuries, and five lost their lives due to the collapse of the wooden structure at the event,” Lal mentioned, highlighting that this annual gathering has been celebrated for three decades.
In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath instructed district officials to ensure that the injured receive adequate treatment and expressed his wishes for their swift recovery. (Agencies)
