JAMMU, Dec 8: Today, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha delivered a keynote address at the 18th annual function of Mahavir (MV) International School, located in the General Zorawar Singh Auditorium at the University of Jammu.
In his speech, the Lieutenant Governor extended his congratulations to the school administration, teachers, and students on this significant occasion.
He underscored the urgent need for a knowledge revolution to propel India towards becoming a developed nation and to foster comprehensive growth across various sectors of the economy.
“In J&K, my objective has been to build capacity and transform schools into centers of excellence. We aim to create a dynamic and competitive learning environment that harnesses the innovative ideas of our students,” stated the Lieutenant Governor.
He emphasized the crucial role of teachers in unlocking the latent potential of students, encouraging them to align the core competencies of the J&K Union Territory for a prosperous future.
The Lieutenant Governor articulated that education should not revolve solely around testing and assessments, advocating for learning that promotes genuine understanding and moral values. He noted the importance of connecting the youth with the practical aspects of life.
He additionally highlighted the need for cultivating a productive teaching-learning ecosystem, where teachers are encouraged to share their experiences and wisdom beyond the confines of the curriculum.
“Empowerment of teachers leads to empowered students, and this, in turn, strengthens our nation,” he asserted.
Touching upon the educational reforms implemented in the last few years, he mentioned that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, an educational revolution is underway across the country.
He also discussed the role of Artificial Intelligence in modern education, emphasizing that while AI can enhance teacher-student interactions, it should serve as a supportive tool rather than replace the crucial role of educators.
“Our future framework should focus on an Artificial Intelligence-supported classroom rather than an AI-led classroom,” the Lieutenant Governor advised educational institutions.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor recognized outstanding students for their academic and extracurricular achievements and released a poster of the school’s Bhajan Video titled “Garud Vahini Vaishnavi.”
Honors were also bestowed upon Padma Shri Prof Vishwamurti Shastri, Padma Shri Dr. SP Varma, Padma Shri Mohan Singh, Padma Shri Romalo Ram, Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta (Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu), and Bishan Singh Dardi for their remarkable contributions in their respective fields.
