Jalandhar, March 2: The Jalandhar commissionerate police have apprehended two members of a USA-based gang in connection with the assassination of Jammu and Kashmir police Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma, who was killed on April 2, 2024, according to a senior police official.
Sub-Inspector Deepak Sharma sustained head injuries during a gunfight between police and gang members in Kathua, J-K, and later died while receiving treatment at the Government Medical College.
In a significant breakthrough, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police arrested the duo, Sukhwinder (also known as Sukha) and Harpreet, after a prolonged chase and exchange of gunfire, seizing two advanced weapons in the process.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav reported that the arrests followed an extensive pursuit and a shootout.
“This significant achievement marks the arrest of two associates (Sukhwinder and Harpreet) of the Sonu Khatri Gang based in the USA, after a lengthy chase and gunfire, along with the recovery of two sophisticated firearms,” posted DGP Yadav on X.
He further stated that the arrest of these suspects “prevented three potential murders.” (Agencies)
