Jammu, March 1: Authorities detained two suspected drug traffickers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in the Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir, as reported by police on Saturday.
Ashwani Kumar, also known as “Rinku,” from Vijaypur, was apprehended for his ongoing involvement in drug-related activities in the Samba district, according to a police spokesperson.
The spokesperson noted that Kumar had been implicated in multiple FIRs concerning drug trafficking and had become a societal menace.
He is currently incarcerated at Bhaderwah district jail. In addition, another infamous drug trafficker, Pardeep Dubey, from Kanyari Janglote village in Kathua, was detained under the same act on Friday. The spokesperson revealed that police prepared a dossier against Dubey and forwarded it to the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, who subsequently issued a detention warrant.
Following the warrant’s execution, Dubey is now held at the District Jail in Udhampur, aimed at curbing his drug trafficking activities and safeguarding the future of local youth.
