Leh, Feb 18: In a tragic incident in Ladakh, two Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) lost their lives, as reported by officials on Tuesday. The army honored these brave individuals for their ultimate sacrifice while on duty.
Subedar Santosh Kumar and Naib-Subedar Sunil Kumar passed away due to the explosion of a water tank at a camp located in the Nyoma region, approximately 150 km from Leh in southern Ladakh, according to the official statement.
A police investigation is currently being conducted regarding this incident, which took place on Sunday.
Lt Gen Suchindra Kumar, the Northern Army commander, paid tribute to the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice.
“Lt Gen Kumar and all members of Dhruva Command pay homage to the supreme sacrifice made by bravehearts Sub Santosh Kumar and Nb Sub Sunil Kumar, who gave their lives in service in Ladakh,” the northern command noted on X, sharing a message from the Fire and Fury Corps based in Leh.
The Fire and Fury Corps also shared images of the two JCOs and expressed: “GOC, Fire and Fury Corps, along with all ranks, honor Subedar Santosh Kumar and Naib Subedar Sunil Kumar for their supreme sacrifice made on February 16 while serving in Ladakh, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to their grieving families during this challenging time.”
