Jammu, Dec 8: In a tragic incident reported in the Zero Morh area of Udhampur district, two police officers were discovered dead, indicating a suspected case of fratricide.
The Udhampur police shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), stating, ” Today, PS Rehambal received information about two policemen from Sopore, who were traveling towards STC Talwara in a government vehicle and had sustained bullet wounds. Initial investigations suggest that this may be a case of fratricide and suicide. Further inquiries are ongoing.”
According to official sources, early this morning, a vehicle with registration number JK05E-4703, driven by Constable Manjeet Singh, was en route from Sopore to Talwara Reasi along with two other officers, Harmeet Singh and Head Constable Malik.
As the vehicle approached Kali Mata Mandir Rehambal, a dispute arose, after which Head Constable Malik shot Constable Manjeet Singh before turning the weapon on himself, resulting in the deaths of both officers. The police have since registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
